SAN DIEGO, CA<\/strong> – Scott Alarc\u00f3n, Chief Executive Officer of Georgetown Health Foundation has been elected by the American Council on Exercise\u2019s (ACE) Board of Directors as Chair of the Board. He will preside over the Board of Directors of the 501(c)(3) non-profit Board for one year.<\/p>\n \u201cThrough my years of experience in healthcare, I have personally witnessed the costly toll that physical inactivity has on the healthcare system, as well as individuals and families living with chronic lifestyle-related diseases,\u201d said Alarc\u00f3n. \u201cThis is why I am an adamant supporter of ACE\u2019s mission to get people moving. I believe a key link in solving the epidemic of lifestyle-related disease is ACE\u2019s philosophy of behavior-change strategies implemented by exercise professionals and health coaches.\u201d<\/p>\n In his three years on the board of directors, Alarc\u00f3n\u2019s expertise and guidance has allowed ACE to grow its cadre of ACE Certified Health Coaches\u00ae by 19 percent from 2018-2019. Additionally, ACE has steadily increased its population of ACE Certified Professionals\u00ae to over 80,000, which now includes over 13,000 exercise professionals in over 90 countries.<\/p>\n \u201cACE is honored to have Scott at the helm of the board,\u201d said Scott Goudeseune, ACE\u2019s Chief Executive Officer. \u201cHis tremendous dedication to our mission is not only evident in his years of service on our board of directors, but also in his passion about getting people from all walks of life to live a healthier, more joyful life.\u201d<\/p>\n Alarc\u00f3n brings more than twenty years of experience in the healthcare and allied health sectors. He holds the designation of Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a BoardSource Certified Governance Trainer.
