MORRISVILLE, VT<\/strong> – Concept2 is proud to announce that they have been named a Vermont Green Business by the State of Vermont for our environmental stewardship and sustainability efforts. The Vermont Green Business Program provides assistance to businesses desiring to \u201cgreen up\u201d their operations and recognizes businesses of all sizes for meeting a set of environmental standards.<\/p>\n In addition to participating in the program’s environmental assessment, Concept2 has implemented a number of green initiatives over the past 5\u201310 years. Perhaps most visible are the seven solar trackers in front of the building, installed in 2010 and 2011. More recently, Concept2 added solar panels to the roof of its north building, bringing the total solar photovoltaic KW production to approximately 40% of all the company\u2019s electricity needs. Other green Concept2 initiatives include installing exterior and interior LED lighting, using PC recycled paper products, company-wide composting, using water-based mold release, cleaning with greener products, and eliminating the use of bottled water. Recycling is also part of daily company operations, from reusing shipping materials and containers, to managing printed materials and paper.<\/p>\n \u201cWe feel that this is the right way to do business,\u201d says Judy Geer, co-owner. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to be recognized by the State for our green practices, and we hope this program inspires and assists other businesses to do the same.\u201d<\/p>\n The Vermont Green Business Program is a joint effort between the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation and the Vermont Small Business Development Center and is voluntary and free of charge to participating businesses.
