LAKE NONA, FL<\/strong> – The United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), Inc. announces the appointment of Steve Kappes as the new USPTA San Diego Executive Director.<\/p>\n Steve is a USPTA Professional and 19-year USPTA member who served on the USPTA San Diego Division board for 15 years. He is deeply involved in the San Diego tennis community, having coached youth and adult recreational players at multiple sites and served on the boards of Youth Tennis San Diego, the San Diego District Tennis Association and the Southern California Tennis Association.<\/p>\n Steve is also known for his roles in adaptive tennis, having co-founded the San Diego Wounded Warrior Tennis Program and has been its director since its inception in 2009. Leveraging his experience as a former career Navy officer, this all-volunteer-run, nationally recognized program improves Warriors\u2019 quality of life through tennis and camaraderie in partnership with major military medical centers. Steve also serves on the USTA\u2019s National Adaptive Tennis Committee and USPTA\u2019s adaptive tennis task force.<\/p>\n Steve holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master\u2019s degree in nonprofit leadership and management from the University of San Diego. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m grateful for the opportunity to serve the USPTA as the San Diego Division executive director and excited to help our board and members deliver outstanding racquet sports coaching and programming in our region.
